Complete Content And Getting Hits With Blog Posts

If you’ve ever launched a new website, you know the feeling… Head scratching, chewed off nails, butterflies in your stomach on how to generate exposure on the internet.

To have a fighting chance with a new website, you are told:

“This is the Premier League. To have a chance against the big boys [insert your industry] you need to publish an incredible amount of content.”

And that’s exactly what you will do. You’ll publish a blog post. Then another. Then another… and another. The result? Probably not much.

You will get a spike in traffic on the day you published something new. But it pretty much will go to zero after that.

Complete Content

This is when you should switch things up.

Instead of handcuffing yourself to the desk and knocking out a bunch of “good” articles, you should focus on QUALITY… not quantity.

Published using this approach should give you a good chance of hitting the first page of Google within a month.

After about 3/4 months or so log into your Google Analytics to see which pages brought in the most organic traffic. You should notice a clear pattern. The best performing content all had one common theme:

It was all “Complete Content”. (In other words: content that Google considers thorough and comprehensive).

Needless to say, you should concentrate all of your content marketing on publishing “Complete Content”.

As it turns out, this type of content is even MORE important right now than ever. (In fact, Google’s newly-updated Quality Rater Guidelines states that the search results should have “comprehensive main content”).

The question is: How do you actually create Complete Content?

Spoiler alert: There’s a lot more to it than publishing 3,000-word blog posts. With Complete Content, you need to SHOW Google that your content is comprehensive. When you do, you’ll find yourself with higher rankings and more traffic.
